Nathan and I began these 2 songs in January 2020 in Austin, TX. I stopped by while traveling west across the country. Nathan sent me "Radiate" beforehand, so I already had lyrics for it. I added vocals and an electric guitar to a project that he had piano, key bass, drums, and flute synth
I had a new song as well.("Outta my head", which I thought was gonna be an instrumental at the time) Anyway, we recorded that. Nathan played drums on the midi keyboard, and piano. I played electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and bass.
Flash forward a year to 2021. I finally got a new laptop. I had Nathan send me the 2 projects we had recorded the year before.
"Outta my Head", I added some keyboards and acoustics at the very end. I loved it as an instrumental, but also thought it'd be cool if Nathan wrote some lyrics and sang on it. That way he'd have sang on my song, and I on his song. So he added vocals and had Jo, his girlfriend sing the "Ah ah ah" parts.
Radiate, I added tambourine, shaker, and a synth part to accompany my lead guitar part before each verse, and the outro. I also redid my vocals from the year before.
I love Nathan, and have wanted to release something with just the two of us for ages.
He's a brother, and I miss being able to do music with him on the regular. These songs mean a lot to me. ❤ A.J.
